EDCTP2 is a continuation of the EDCTP1 programme. The goal of EDCTP2 remains to reduce the burden of poverty related diseases (PRDs) by accelerating the development of new or improved tools to address them. EDCTP2 retains much of the core mission of EDCTP1, but will build on an extended and more flexible mandate to valorize the clinical capacities established and reinforced by EDCTP1, to encompass a wider range of PRDs, to support the clinical testing of new products and the appropriate use and delivery in the health systems context. The EDCTP2 programme will run over a ten-year period from 2014 to 2024. The EDCTP programme is supported under Horizon 2020, the European Union's Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
